Trump: Harris border visit will show 'tremendous destruction and death' Biden policies caused

Former President Trump on Wednesday commended Vice President Kamala Harris' announced southwest U.S. border trip late this week – but made clear he thinks the trip is way overdue.

"After months of ignoring the crisis at the southern border, it is great that we got Kamala Harris to finally go and see the tremendous destruction and death that they've created – a direct result of Biden ending my very tough but fair Border policies," Trump said after the Biden administration said the vice president will go to El Paso, Texas, on Friday. 

The historical surge of illegal immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border this year hit recored numbers, in part because of a change in administration policy regarding unaccompanied minors trying to enter the U.S. This spring, Biden put Harris in charge of fixing border issues, particularly the root causes of the migration from Latin America. 

Harris will be accompanied by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, according to Politico.

The vice president's trip is set just days before Trump's proposed June 30 visit to the southern border with Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott. Trump announced his plan over a week ago.

"Harris and Biden were given the strongest Border in American history. And now, it is by far the worst in American history," Trump said. "If Governor Abbott and I weren’t going there next week, she would have never gone!"
