RNC chair 'very comfortable' with convention security, urges unity after assassination attempt

Republican National Committee Chair Michael Whatley said that he is "very comfortable" with security arrangements for the upcoming party convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, The Hill reported. The convention is slated to run from July 15-18. 

Whatley commented on security arrangements in an interview with Fox News Sunday.

"This is going to be a facility, where we’re going to be able to have 50,000 delegates and alternates and guests and members of the media, who are going to be here and . . . who are going to be safe."

Whatley also called for "unity" in the wake of an attempt on former President Donald Trump's life, The Hill reported.

Whatley called for politics to be "secondary" in the wake of the attempt on Trump's life.

"I think unity is obviously very important. I think strength is obviously very important, but right now, this morning, I think politics is secondary."
