Trump slams Schumer, suggests coronavirus death rate lower than reported

President Trump suggested Wednesday the death rate from coronavirus may be smaller than currently reported because some people with non-severe symptoms go undiagnosed. 

“But again, a lot of people don’t report because they get the coronavirus and they get better relatively quickly, not that severe,” the president said during a wide-ranging interview on Fox News’ Sean Hannity show.

The president also criticized Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) for his comments suggesting Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh would face consequences for their abortion stance.

“As far as Schumer is concerned, it was a terrible thing he said,” the president noted. “If that were a Republican you would see really bad things happening, it’s very, very unequal justice and it’s a disgrace that he was able to say something like that.”

In a rare statement of rebuke Chief Justice John Roberts on Wednesday condemned the senator's remarks, describing them as "threatening," "inappropriate" and "dangerous."

President Trump had also tweeted his sentiments about Schumer’s comments earlier in the day.

Trump also waded into the Super Tuesday results for Democrats, saying he considers Elizabeth Warren a spoiler that prevented Sen. Bernie Sanders from winning more states. The democratic socialist presidential candidate won in four states, while former Vice President Joe Biden won in the other ten states.
