Rep. Troy Nehls predicts that even after McCarthy ousted today that he will likely become Speaker again
Texas Congressman Troy Nehls discusses the historical motion to vacate Rep. Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House and how the ousting of McCarthy put Republicans back at square one of who can replace him. Nehls comments that, the reason he voted no is because “there is no replacement, there is no one else.” “If we're going to replace him then somebody tells me with who? I don't think there's anybody in this in this body that could get more than 80 votes, more or less 218.” Nehls predicts that Kevin McCarthy will appoint an acting speaker in the interim, but after the list of candidates eventually fails, and “ he could end up being becoming a speaker again.”
