'More than 100' Haitian immigrants land in Florida just days after 300 Cuban immigrants

More than 100 Haitian immigrants arrived in Florida this week just days after one of the state's island provinces was swamped by a reported crowd of around 300 Cuban migrants. 

The Haitian refugees "landed Tuesday in a gated community in Key Largo," the Miami Herald reported on Tuesday, where many were taken into custody by "different federal agencies." 

One of the arrivals told the Herald that "bandits" in Haiti "are killing people, preventing us from living.”

Haiti is located several hundred miles southeast from Key Largo. 

The influx of Haitian migrants comes just days after the federal government was forced to shutter Dry Tortugas National Park after a massive crowd of Cuban immigrants arrived there. 

The Herald noted that "there have been so many migrants landings in the Florida Keys in recent days that on Tuesday, some Haitian migrants had to share a van with recently arrived Cuban refugees."
