Major league sports leagues have been hugely impacted by the coronavirus crisis, and even the sound of "Let's play ball" has a different ring as Major League Baseball launched its official season this week to empty stadiums.

But as games start without fans packing the seats, a new Scott Rasmussen Ballotpedia poll shows that people don’t want sports to start back up at all until next year.

Right now, 45% of voters say that they don’t want professional sports to resume until 2021. 44% think sports should continue as planned. As with other reopening trends, more Republicans are on board than Democrats. 59% vs 52% to be precise. Older voters are also antsy to get back into the "swing" of things, while younger voters want to remain cautious.

Scott Rasmussen discusses polarization, politics, and what it all has to do with sports, in his new Number of the Day podcast.
