Cowboys re-sign QB Prescott, now highest-paid player in NFL history with $240 million deal
Prescott will receive a record-setting $60 million per year under the contract extension deal
The Dallas Cowboys' quarterback, Dak Prescott, is now the highest-paid football player in NFL history. Prescott earned the title by securing a four-year extension worth $240 million, with $231 million guaranteed.
Prescott is the highest-paid player ever based on the average-per-year contract value at $60 million per year, CBS Sports reported Sunday.
Prescott's average-per-year contract value surpasses the $55 million per year record set by Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow on his five-year, $275 million deal.
Prescott is set to receive $39 million more than any quarterback will make over the next five years. He will also receive the NFL's largest signing bonus of $80 million.
