The perpetrator of the deadly mass shooting at an Indianapolis FedEx facility was a 19-year-old former employee of the company, the Associated Press reported on Friday.

The shooter, identified as 19-year-old Brandon Scott Hole, was "a former employee" of the shipping company, the AP said, citing FedEx sources.

The alleged gunman carried out the shooting late on Thursday night, killing eight people and himself near Indianapolis International Airport on the outskirts of the city.

Several victims who survived the attack are reportedly in critical condition in the hospital.
