Jen Psaki holds first press conference of Biden presidency

"When the president asked me to serve in this role we talked about the importance of bringing truth and transparency back to the briefing room and he asked me to ensure we're communicating about the policies across the Biden-Harris administration and the work his team is doing every single day on behalf of all American people," Psaki said.

On the heels of President Joe Biden's inauguration, Jen Psaki held her first press briefing on Wednesday evening as the new White House press secretary.

"When the president asked me to serve in this role we talked about the importance of bringing truth and transparency back to the briefing room and he asked me to ensure we're communicating about the policies across the Biden-Harris administration and the work his team is doing every single day on behalf of all American people," she said.

Psaki mentioned actions that President Biden had taken earlier in the day, including signing executive orders about rejoining the Paris climate accord and reversing Trump's move to exit the World Health Organization. When asked about Biden's view on Donald Trump's impeachment trial in the Senate, Psaki said that he will be leaving that up to Congress.
