Biden budget targets alleged ‘white supremacy’ among U.S. immigration workers

President Joe Biden’s first budget request to the U.S. Congress this week seeks nearly half a billion dollars in funding to address workplace disputes within the U.S. immigration workforce, with the request explicitly signalling out alleged “white supremacist” ideology in those ranks.

The budget request seeks $470 million "for the Offices of Professional Responsibility at Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement," an increase of $84 million from currently enacted levels.

Those funds would help "ensure that DHS workforce complaints, including those related to white supremacy or ideological and non-ideological beliefs, are investigated expeditiously," the budget request states. It offers no explanation for why the Biden administration is targeting white supremacy explicitly. 

Overall, the budget doc requests "$769 billion in non-defense discretionary funding ... and $753 billion for national defense programs."
