Three people shot in Louisville, when protester reportedly misfired weapon while inspecting it

Three people suffered gunshot wounds after a weapon was fired on Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky. The incident occurred in connection with a protest by the group NFAC, which stands for "Not F------- Around Coalition."

The coalition's founder told ABC News that the incident occurred as members were inspecting their weapons before the demonstration, and a person's gun accidentally fired. He described the individual as a trainee, the news outlet reported.

The three victims were part of the NFAC, ABC News reported, citing the Louisville Metro Police Department.

"Today, shortly before 1:00 pm, three people were struck by gunfire as the result of a discharge of someone's gun who was participating in the NFAC demonstration at Baxter Park," Louisville Metro's interim Chief of Police Robert Schroeder explained in a statement, according to ABC News. "Louisville Division of Fire and LMEMS arrived a short time later and transported all three victims to the University of Louisville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. All involved are members of the NFAC and there are no outstanding suspects."

The protest was over the death of Breonna Taylor, who was fatally shot in her home in March.

Though authorities had a "no-knock" search warrant, they claim that they knocked and identified themselves as police prior to entering Taylor's residence, according to the New York Times. Taylor's boyfriend "said he and Ms. Taylor heard aggressive banging at the door and asked who it was, but they did not hear an announcement that it was the police," according to the Times. The boyfriend reportedly said he fired at police because he thought the residence was being broken into. Police returned fire, and Taylor was fatally shot.
