U.S. Cyber Safety Review Board probing Chinese telecom hack: Report
The FBI and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency said on Friday it was also investigating the hack.
A U.S. government panel, the Cyber Safety Review Board, will investigate the Chinese hacking of U.S. telecommunications networks allegedly targeting the phones of prominent Americans such as former President Donald Trump, his running mate Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, and officials from Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
The FBI and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency said on Friday it was also investigating the hack.
"The U.S. Government is investigating the unauthorized access to commercial telecommunications infrastructure by actors affiliated with the People’s Republic of China," the FBI and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency said in joint a statement. "After the FBI identified specific malicious activity targeting the sector, the FBI and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) immediately notified affected companies, rendered technical assistance, and rapidly shared information to assist other potential victims."
