Trump admin says man mistakenly deported to El Salvador 'alive and secure'

The U.S. State Department informed a federal court on Saturday that the Maryland man mistakenly deported to El Salvador is "alive and secure" in the country’s maximum security CECOT prison.
U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis ordered the Trump administration on Friday to keep track of Kilmar Abrego Garcia's status in accordance with her order to facilitate his return to the U.S.
“He is alive and secure in that facility. He is detained pursuant to the sovereign, domestic authority of El Salvador,” wrote Michael Kozack, a senior bureau official at the State Department.
The Trump administration has sent illegal immigrants with gang ties to El Salavador from the U.S.
