Suspect in murder of New Orleans tour guide entered U.S. illegally, officials say

One of three suspects in the murder of a French Quarter tour guide was living in the United States illegally, officials said.

Kristie Thibodeaux, 43, was shot and killed in her car on June 30.

Kevin Nunez, a suspect in the murder, had an "active warrant out for his arrest and was found to be wearing a deactivated ankle monitor at the time of her death," according to a local news report.

Joshua Bonifacio-Avila, 19, and Jerben Albarec, 17, have also been arrested in connection to Thibodeaux's murder, police said.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that Bonifacio was in the country illegally. The agency said he entered the country at an unknown date but it did not confirm the immigration status of the two others suspects.
