Secret Service agent accused of sexual misconduct against Harris campaign aide: Report
The news of the misconduct allegation came on the same day the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee released an interim report finding a series of Secret Service failures before and during former President Trump's outdoor rally in Butler, Pa. in July where he was shot.
An unnamed U.S. Secret Service agent has been accused of sexual misconduct against a Kamala Harris campaign aide, according to a new report released on Wednesday.
“The Office of the Vice President takes the safety of staff seriously,” a spokesperson for the Harris campaign told RealClearPolitics. “We have zero tolerance for sexual misconduct. Senior OVP officials were alerted by the USSS about an incident involving an agent and informed that USSS initiated an investigation. The Office of the Vice President will not be releasing further information.”
A Secret Service spokesperson told RealClearPolitics that "the Office of Professional Responsibility is investigating a misconduct allegation involving an employee."
The spokesperson for the agency said the employee in question is currently on administrative leave.
"The Secret Service holds its personnel to the highest standards. The employee has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.”
