Georgia Congressman Scott says a shutdown would only benefit the Democrats
"I'm gonna vote for the continuing resolution, and hopefully give Speaker Johnson some breathing room to finish getting these appropriation measures done," said Scott.
Congressman Austin Scott, R-Ga., said that he would be voting for the upcoming continuing resolution in order to avoid a government shutdown.
"Shutdowns only help ... one group," Scott said on the "John Solomon Reports" podcast. "And that is the incompetent group that's in charge at the White House right now and in charge of the Senate."
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., proposed a continuing resolution to keep the government fully operational past Friday, rather than a large-scale spending bill.
Some House Republicans in the Freedom Caucus have already come out, saying they would vote against it.
"We're not all going to get everything we want," he said. "But we can get reasonable budget measures passed, and keep this country moving forward."
Congress has until mid-November to pass the appropriations bills or enact another continuing resolution to avoid a government shutdown.
"I'm gonna vote for the continuing resolution, and hopefully give Speaker Johnson some breathing room to finish getting these appropriation measures done," said Scott.
