“He misrepresented the facts in that executive order because it said that we had suggested that the Hunter Biden laptop story was Russian disinformation,” Brennan said during an MSNBC interview.

Former CIA Director John Brennan slammed President Donald Trump during an interview, saying he "misrepresented" the facts regarding the Hunter Biden laptop.

“He misrepresented the facts in that executive order because it said that we had suggested that the Hunter Biden laptop story was Russian disinformation,” Brennan said during an MSNBC interview, according to the New York Post.

Earlier this week, Trump issued an executive order that revoked the security clearances of at least 50 former intelligence officials who helped coordinate an effort to discredit reporting that former President Joe Biden’s son Hunter had left his laptop at a computer repair business.

The officials, Trump’s order explains, issued a letter falsely suggesting that the news story was part of a Russian disinformation campaign, which led to it being suppressed across social media platforms.

“No, we said it was one of the hallmarks of Russian information operations, including the dumping of accurate information, which is what we said in that letter,” Brennan said.

Former Politico reporters slammed the outlet for burying the laptop story by calling it misinformation.

“Politico did that terrible, ill-fated headline: 51 intelligence agents, or former intelligence agents, say that the Hunter Biden laptop was disinformation, or bore the hallmarks of disinformation,” Axios senior politics reporter Marc Caputo said, according to the Post.

“I was covering Biden at the time,” Caputo added. “And I was told this came from on high at Politico: Don’t write about the laptop, don’t talk about the laptop, don’t tweet about the laptop.”

A Politico rep pushed back on Caputo's characterization in a statement to Mediaite, which was first to report on this.

“Seems like a case of false memory, given that across the years they referenced, POLITICO journalists lead the way on wide-ranging reporting on the business dealings of Joe Biden’s closest relatives,” the rep noted.
