FBI raids home of aide to NYC Mayor Eric Adams

The FBI on Thursday raided the home of an aide to New York City Mayor Eric Adams for as yet unclear reasons.

Winnie Greco has served as a special advisor to Adams and as director of Asian affairs. The mayor's office confirmed she had been placed on leave after the raid, Politico reported. Greco has faced allegations that she sought donations for a non-profit as a condition to attend a government event.

"Our administration will always follow the law, and we always expect all our employees to adhere to the strictest ethical guidelines," City Hall told News 12. "As we have repeatedly said, we don’t comment on matters that are under review, but will fully cooperate with any review underway. The mayor has not been accused of any wrongdoing."

The FBI in November raided the home of Brianna Suggs, a campaign consultant and fundraiser for Adams seeking evidence related to alleged illicit campaign contributions. The same month, the bureau seized Adams' cell phones as part of the same investigation.

At issue in those matters are allegations that Adams' 2021 campaign worked with the Turkish government to secure illegal foreign campaign contributions. It was not immediately if the raid on Greco's home had any connection to the fundraising investigation.

Adams in November, stated that "[a]s a former member of law enforcement, I expect all members of my staff to follow the law and fully cooperate with any sort of investigation — and I will continue to do exactly that."
