Ex-Trump official slams Biden admin for politicizing intelligence community, missing threats
"They missed Hamas and Israel and now they're missing what's going on at the border," Tata said.
Under Secretary of Defense for Policy under former President Donald Trump, Anthony Tata, slammed the Biden administration for using the intelligence community for partisan reasons and not prioritizing foreign policy.
"When you leverage your intelligence community on your political opponents domestically, you miss a lot," General Tata said on the Friday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "We missed Afghanistan and the Taliban and quite frankly, we missed Russia and Ukraine."
The United States withdrew its troops from Afghanistan in August 2021, resulting in the Taliban retaking the country and 13 United States soldiers dying.
The U.S. recently announced talks with Niger to withdraw American forces from the West African nation after maintaining a presence for more than 10 years.
The news comes after the Department of Defense expressed concerns over Niger's relationships with adversarial countries such as Iran and Russia.
The timeline for U.S. withdrawal has not been finalized.
"They missed Hamas and Israel and now they're missing what's going on at the border," Tata said. "So it doesn't surprise me that they missed what's happening in Africa."
