DC teen charged in carjacking of FBI agent
Crime has surged in D.C. in 2023, with violent crime increasing by 40% year-to-date and motor vehicle theft up 91%.
A D.C. teen has been charged as an adult in connection with the alleged carjacking of an FBI agent last week.
Devonta Lynch, 17, was arrested on Monday and charged with armed carjacking, the Metropolitan Police Department announced. The FBI confirmed in the wake of the incident that one of its agents had been carjacked.
Authorities stated that two individuals approached the agent, who was outside the car at the time and carjacked the individual at gunpoint. The MPD stated that the vehicle was recovered less than half an hour later.
The other suspect remains at large.
