Judge sets start date for trial of NYC Mayor Eric Adams
"I follow campaign laws," Adams said after the indictement. "We do not participate in straw donors. We do not participate in foreign donors."
New York City Mayor Eric Adams will face trial on federal charges, beginning April 21, 2025, a Judge announced on Friday.
A grand jury indicted Adams in September on five charges, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, bribery, solicitation of a contribution by foreign nationals, and others. He has pleaded not guilty.
Judge Dale Ho set the trial to begin just days before the Democratic mayoral primary, saying “I do think it’s important for the public to have an answer," Politico reported.
At issue are alleged campaign contributions to Adams' 2021 mayoral run from foreign sources, including at least once Turkish government official.
"I follow campaign laws," Adams said after the indictment. "We do not participate in straw donors. We do not participate in foreign donors."
