'El Chapo' brother indicted for drug trafficking, along with high ranking Sinaloa Cartel members
The indictments allege violations related to the distribution of controlled substances including fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana, according to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
The brother of "El Chapo" is among several high-ranking Sinaloa Cartel members who were charged in Arizona with international drug trafficking, according to indictments that were unsealed in federal court, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency announced.
The indictments allege violations related to the distribution of controlled substances including fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana, the ICE agency wrote in a Friday announcement.
The indictments were against cartel members Aureliano Guzman-Loera of Sinaloa, Mexico, along with brothers Ruperto, Jose, and Heriberto Salgueiro-Nevarez, of Guadalupe Y Calvo, Mexico, the announcement read.
"The Salgueiro-Nevarez brothers allegedly operate a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel known as the SNO, which stands for the Salgueiro-Nevarez Organization," the agency noted. "Aureliano Guzman-Loera is the brother of former Sinaloa Cartel leader, Joaquin Guzman-Loera, 'El Chapo.' "
The infamous "El Chapo" currently is serving a life sentence in Colorado, after having been convicted in the U.S. of charges related to his cartel activities.
