Dominion Voting Systems files defamation lawsuit against Rudy Giuliani

Dominion Voting Systems on Monday filed a defamation lawsuit against Rudolph Giuliani, an attorney for former President Trump and a former New York City mayor.

The 107-page lawsuit was filed in a federal District Court in Washington, D.C.

Giuliani was part of the Trump legal team that challenged the results of the 2020 presidential election in which Trump was defeated. Among their arguments in courts in several key states across the country was that votes were miscounted and that Dominion Voting Systems, which count ballots, appeared to be part of the problem.

The suit accuses Giuliani of carrying out "a viral disinformation campaign about Dominion" made up of "demonstrably false" allegations, in part to enrich himself through legal fees and his podcast, according to The New York Times. 

Giuliani told Just the News, "Dominion’s defamation lawsuit for $1.3B will allow me to investigate their history, finances, and practices fully and completely. The amount being asked for is, quite obviously, intended to frighten people of faint heart. It is another act of intimidation by the hate-filled left-wing to wipe out and censor the exercise of free speech, as well as the ability of lawyers to defend their clients vigorously. As such, we will investigate a countersuit against them for violating these Constitutional rights."
