Cohen lawyer says former Trump personal lawyer back to prison for not following media blackout
Cohen was brought back to prison after seeing dining the past weekend at a NYC restaurant
An attorney for former Trump personal attorney Michael Cohen reportedly says his client has been taken into custody and will be returned to prison for violating the terms of his early release, specifically to not engage with the media through any medium.
Cohen was returned to a correctional facility after being photographed this past weekend dining in a New York restaurant. He reportedly said he didn’t think that move had violated the terms of his release, as a result of the coronavirus, because he was on furlough.
Cohen tweeting and his refusal to stop the completion of a tell-all book reportedly violated the terms of the release, regarding contact with the media, one of his lawyers reportedly says.
Cohen was serving a three-year sentence in New York for lying to Congress and in connection with tax and campaign finance violations related to helping provide hush money payments to two women who alleged affairs with President Trump.
