Air National Guardsman accused in Pentagon leak to learn whether he will be jailed until trial
The Air National Guardsman has not yet entered a plea.
The 21-year-old Massachusetts Air National Guardsman accused of posting numerous classified documents online will appear in court Wednesday for a hearing about whether he will remain jailed until his trial.
Jack Teixeira is accused of sharing classified military documents on the messaging website Discord starting late last year. He was arrested last week and charged under the Espionage Act with "unauthorized retention and transmission of national defense information and willful retention of classified documents," Just the News reported.
Prosecutors are expected to argue to Magistrate Judge David Hennessy on Wednesday that Teixeira should remain jailed during the case, CNN reported. Prosecutors may disclose more information about Teixeira's alleged activities as they argue to convince the judge that the guardsman poses a flight risk or is too dangerous to be freed.
Teixeira has not yet entered a plea.
