Speaker Johnson says he doesn't have an 'appetite' to fund Ukraine anymore: report

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said in an article released Friday that he doesn't have the desire to send anymore money to Ukraine as the presidential election gets closer.
“I don’t have an appetite for further Ukraine funding, and I hope it’s not necessary," Johnson said in an exclusive interview with Punchbowl News. "If President Trump wins, I believe that he actually can bring that conflict to a close. I really do. I think he’ll call Putin and tell him that this is enough."

Johnson said that if Vice President Kamala Harris wins the presidency, he doubts that the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine will end.
"So whatever the terms are, I’m not sure, but I think if Kamala Harris is president, I don’t think it ends, and that’s a desperate and dangerous scenario," he said.
Johnson has gotten flack in the past from Republicans in the Freedom Caucus when he approved spending bills that funded the ongoing war in Ukraine. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., even tried to oust him over the issue.
