Rep. Tim Burchett slams Dem opposition to Matt Gaetz, says Justice Department has 'nothing on him'
"They have nothing on him.......Matt Gaetz will disrupt the Department of Justice," Rep. Tim Burchett said.
Congressman Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., slammed Democrats on Tuesday, saying that the Justice Department hates former Florida GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz but did not bring a criminal case against him.
"Nobody hates Matt Gaetz more than the Biden Justice Department," Burchett said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "They have hundreds of lawyers and they chose not to pursue a case against Matt. They would have gladly thrown the book at him."
President-elect Donald Trump announced earlier this month that Gaetz would be his pick for the U.S. Attorney General.
The House is currently in the process of deciding whether or not to release a report that centers on allegations that Gaetz engaged in sexual misconduct with a minor, which he has strongly denied. A separate Justice Department investigation concluded last year, and did not result in any charges.
"They have nothing on him ... Matt Gaetz will disrupt the Department of Justice," Burchett said.
Burchett went on to criticize the Department of Justice for being politicized under Biden, arguing it had labeled parents as domestic terrorists and unfairly jailed pro-life activists.
