Four House Republicans on Thursday joined Democrats to vote against an attempt to fine Attorney General Merrick Garland for being in contempt of Congress.

The measure failed in a 204-210 vote, while other Republicans were absent for the vote.

Here are the four GOP lawmakers who voted with Democrats not to hold Garland in inherit contempt.

  • Rep. John Duarte, Calif.
  • Rep. David Joyce, Ohio
  • Rep. Tom McClintock, Calif.
  • Rep. Mike Turner, Ohio

The 12 GOP lawmakers who didn't vote are:

  • Rep. Kelly Armstrong, R-N.D.
  • Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas
  • Rep. Kay Granger, R-Texas
  • Rep. Doug LaMalfa, R-Calif.
  • Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colo.
  • Rep. Jake LaTurner, R-Kan.
  • Rep. Laurel Lee, R-Fla.
  • Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky.
  • Rep. Brian Mast, R, R-Fla.
  • Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C.
  • Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, R-Iowa
  • Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Ala.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., forced the effort to hold Garland in "inherent contempt."

The measure would have required Garland to pay fines of $10,000 per day until he released the audiotapes of President Joe Biden's interview with special counsel Robert Hur with regard to Biden's mishandling of classified documents.

Luna on Thursday also refiled the inherit contempt resolution and said its defeat was the result of the absences. However, she does not intend to bring the matter to a vote for about two weeks.

"Today’s vote on my inherent contempt resolution and the legislative appropriations bill did not pass due to some Republican absences," she wrote on the social media platform, X. "An overwhelming majority of the party supports this resolution, and it already survived multiple kill-shot attempts by Democrats."
