A House Judiciary subcommittee will hold the committee's first hearing of the 119th Congress next Wednesday, two days after President-elect Donald Trump is sworn into office, which will focus on President Joe Biden's border policies.

The House Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement's hearing will examine the border policies enacted over the past four years, and possible solutions the incoming administration can employ, according to the Daily Wire.

The hearing comes after Trump pledged on the campaign trail to reinstate several of his former border policies when he returns to office, such as his Remain in Mexico policy, and to strengthen border security.

“The American people gave Republicans a mandate in November when they put us in the driver’s seat,” Texas GOP Rep. Brandon Gill said. “The Judiciary Committee Republicans are ready to hit the ground running, restore law and order back in our home districts, and secure the southern border ... With President Trump as our leader, we have momentum and energy as we hold our first Judiciary hearing of the year."

The hearing comes after the House passed several immigration bills this month, including the Laken Riley Act, which will give the U.S. authority to detain illegal immigrants who have been accused of theft-related crimes. The act is still being pushed through the Senate.

Trump has also nominated former South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem to lead the Department of Homeland Security, and tapped Tom Homan as his border czar. Noem vowed on Friday to work with Trump to reinstate the Remain in Mexico policy, and to shut down the Biden administration's CBP One mobile phone app.
