Dem senator urges Biden to address 'crisis' at border, says federal government 'must do more'
"What I'm waiting for is the administration to take bold action."
A U.S. Democratic senator this week urged the Biden administration to take action to address the border crisis, claiming the Biden administration must do more to address the surge of illegal immigrants straining immigration facilities at the southern border.
"What I'm waiting for is the administration to take bold action to actually address these concerns," Sinema said Thursday to Mike Broomhead on KTAR News 92.3 FM, a Phoenix-area radio station.
"The reality is, this is a crisis and the federal government must do more to address this surge of migrants who are coming to the border with increasing numbers each year," she continued.
Arizona has been among the states feeling the crush of illegal immigration in recent months. Sinema on Thursday said Biden should declare the crisis a national emergency.
"What's important is standing up for Arizona and the needs of our state, and I'm going to use the same exact approach with the Biden administration that I did with the Trump administration, which is the same approach that I used with the Obama administration," she said.
