Congressional Trump assassination attempt task force schedules first hearing for next week
The panel has not announced any speakers for the first hearing so far, but will focus on the "Secret Service's Reliance on State and Local Law Enforcement," in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The congressional task force investigating the first assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump scheduled its first hearing on the matter for next Thursday.
The House of Representatives established a task force to investigate the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July. The task force consists of seven Republican and six Democratic members. The first hearing comes after a second assassination attempt was made on Trump over the weekend.
The panel has not announced any speakers for the first hearing so far, but has requested extensive documents related to the shooting from the Department of Homeland Security and the Secret Service. The hearing will focus on the "Secret Service's Reliance on State and Local Law Enforcement," in Butler, Pennsylvania, according to Politico.
The task force is also expected to expand its investigation to include the second assassination attempt in West Palm Beach, Florida, but a vote to expand the powers has not occurred so far.
The panel is required to finish its investigation and issue a report on its findings by the middle of December, regardless of whether the panel will also investigate the second attempt, because the next term begins in January.
