Navy SEALs investigating staged episode where military dogs attack Kaepernick impersonator

The Navy SEALs announced Sunday they are investigating a video showing military dogs attacking an impersonator wearing a Colin Kaepernick jersey during a demonstration at a private museum fund-raiser last year.

The video went viral earlier in the day even though it was first posted on social media back in January 2019 as part of an event at the non-profit Navy Seal Museum in Fort Pierce, Fla. The staged episode intimated the man wearing Kaepernick's jersey, a stand-in, was being attacked by the K9s for not standing during the National Anthem.

The Naval Special Warfare Command, which supervises Navy SEALs, issued a statement on Twitter saying it had just learned of the video and would investigate the episode, though early indications are that no active duty Navy members participated.

“The inherent message of this video is completely inconsistent with the values and ethos of Naval Special Warfare and the US Navy,” the center said. “We are investigating the matter fully, and initial indications are that there were no active duty Navy personnel or equipment involved with this independent organization’s event.”

The video when it resurfaced Sunday had a headline stating “Colin Kaepernick stand in Josh gets attacked by 5 Navy SEAL dogs for not standing during the National Anthem at a Navy SEAL Museum fundraiser.” Users noted the stand-in then suggested at the end of the attack he would stand for the anthem.
