NY Mayor de Blasio calls for an 'independent investigation' into Gov. Cuomo allegations

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Thursday called for independent investigations into sexual harassment allegations against fellow Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

De Blasio called for an investigation a day after a former Cuomo aide accused the governor of sexual harassment.

"These allegations are really disturbing," de Blasio said at the press conference. "Let’s be clear about that, they’re really disturbing. We have to, as New Yorkers, we've got to take this seriously. When a woman comes forward with this kind of very specific allegations, they have to be taken seriously,”

The mayor stressed that he wanted the investigation to be independent with no ties or one that is “not dominated by the governor’s office.”

The former female aide, Lindsey Boylan, detailed her interactions with Cuomo in a blog post, in which she alleges the governor kissed her without her consent. She also alleged that the governor would make inappropriate remarks while they were in the office together.

Cuomo’s office rejected the sexual harassment allegations, saying they were “quite simply false,” as reported by The Hill.
